The Challenge

Starting from absolute zero in India's most crowded food category.

When Biryani By Kilo came to Voxo, they had a product obsession and a simple premise — India's first handi biryani delivered fresh, never reheated. What they didn't have was a brand, a digital presence, a performance engine, or a city beyond their first kitchen.

The expectation: scale fast, prove unit economics early, and build loyalty from the very first order. In the most competitive food delivery category in Indian D2C.

42%
Repeat order rate. In QSR D2C at launch scale, this number simply doesn't exist. Until it did.

Our Approach

Build the brand like it already owned the category.

We didn't treat this as a launch. We treated it as a takeover. The brand needed to look, feel, and perform like the incumbent from day one — so that when consumers landed anywhere in the funnel, the answer was already obvious.

Phase 01
Brand Architecture & Identity

Built the entire brand system from scratch — logo, colour language, packaging, in-store experience, and tone of voice. The handi wasn't just food; it was a cultural ritual. The identity was designed to carry that weight.

Phase 02
Website & UI/UX Build

Designed and built the full D2C website and ordering experience — from craving to checkout. UX engineered to reduce friction at every step and maximise repeat purchase loops.

Phase 03
Content & Social System

Created a full social media content engine — campaigns like #FilmyFoodie that connected biryani with Bollywood cultural moments. UGC loops drove organic amplification without extra paid spend.

Phase 04
Performance Marketing

Built and optimised the full paid media stack across Meta and Google. 12X ROAS and industry-low 8% ACOS — with CPA decreasing 30% month-on-month as creative iteration tightened audience signals.

Phase 05
Retention & Repeat Purchase

Loyalty mechanics, personalised communication flows, and seasonal campaigns — engineering the 42% repeat order rate that turned a launch into a brand people returned to, again and again.

The Insight

Biryani is emotion.
Not a commodity.

Every other brand competed on price and speed. We positioned BBK on ritual — the ceremony of the handi, the occasion of a proper biryani, the feeling of something cooked for you, not assembled in a factory.

That positioning commanded premium pricing, drove gifting behaviour, and turned the repeat purchase loop into a cultural habit rather than a transactional one.

42%
of all orders are from customers who've ordered before — the retention number that unlocked everything else in the business model.
